Example of a cross-reference design

A cross reference must be specified in the text of the article when quoting sources of literature (examples, [1, 2]). All cross-references must be highlighted in blue and have an underscore.

Step 1. Select the source in the text of the article to which you refer. In Insert menu click Cross-reference.

Step 2. In the pop-up menu type of referenceselect type of itemParagraph in the menu Enter the link to select Paragraph Number, in menu For What Paragraph select from list of literature sources the one that corresponds to the desired one.

Step 3. In Cross-References menu, click Insert and Close.

Creation of a custom hyperlink to a Web page.

All sources of literature, reflected in the list of references should have hyperlinks to the known databases [eLIBRARY, PubMed, PMC, and others.] or the official website of the magazine where you can see the full-text article [Fulltext] or summaries [Abstract]. In the event that an article may be seen both in the form of summary as well as with full access you need to show two links. For example: [eLIBRARY] [Fulltext] or [PubMed] [PMC].

Example of literature source design with a hyperlink to a web page

Let us consider the example of design of a hyperlink to a web page for the source of literature:

Vascular oxidative stress and endothelial dysfunction in patients with chronic heart failure: Role of xanthine-oxidase and extracellular superoxide dismutase / U. Landmesser, S. Spiekermann, X. Dikalov [et al.] // Circulation. - 2002. - Vol. 106. - P. 3073-3078.

Step 1:Find specifiedliterature source in known databases:. ELIBRARY, PubMed, PMC, etc., denoting the name of the database in brackets after the name of theliterature source ([eLIBRARY], [PubMed], [PMC] or others.).

In this example, we find our article in PubMed database in the form of summary (http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/12473554),

and also its full format article on the official site of the magazine:

Therefore, after specifying the source of literature, we enter the following hyperlinks to the databases:

Vascular oxidative stress and endothelial dysfunction in patients with chronic heart failure: Role of xanthine-oxidase and extracellular superoxide dismutase / U. Landmesser, S. Spiekermann, X. Dikalov [et al.] // Circulation. - 2002. - Vol. 106. - P. 3073-3078. [PubMed] [Fulltext]

Step 2. Select the text that represents a hyperlink [text in square brackets], located after the name of theliterature source.

.

Step 3: Right-click and then click onHyperlinkin context menu or inInsert tab in the Links group select command Hyperlink.

Step 4. Click on the Hyperlink option:

Step 5. To create a link to an existing Web page in the section Link to select settingwith web page:

Step 6. Copy link address from the web site:

Step 7. Insert the website address in the Address field:

Step 8. click OK. We get an active link  in Word. All hyperlinks must be highlighted in blue.

Step 9. Repeat all the steps to get a hyperlink to the full-text article [Fulltext].

Step 10. To remove a hyperlink, highlight it, click on the hyperlink using the right button of the mouse and from the context menu select Remove Hyperlink:
